We were commissioned by The Collett School, a special needs school in Hertfordshire for children with moderate learning difficulties, to run a project exploring their 50 year history.
The project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, worked with the students, parents, staff past and present, and local volunteers to learn about the school’s development. We created a participatory timeline in the school grounds which captured each individual’s involvement in the school.
As part of this work we designed The Collett School Exhibition, which enabled us to share images, text and audio collected as part of the project.
The project also investigated the experience of having a learning difficulty. Working with ambassadors from the school community we co-created a workshop that explores this experience.
